Why this matters

Selling on TikTok Shop? Here’s what the fine print actually costs you.

Every TikTok Shop sale carries a base category commission (6% for most US products, 5% for US electronics, 9% for UK/EU standard categories, 7% for UK/EU electronics) on top of a 1.02% payment processing fee that isn’t listed on the main seller pricing page. Miss it and you’ll wonder where your margin went.

Most sellers look at the commission, forget the processing cut, and then blow up their margin the moment they partner with a creator. An affiliate on 15% commission alongside a 9% platform fee and 1.02% processing means roughly a quarter of every sale is gone before your product cost is even subtracted.

The calculator above models all three cuts together so you can see — in real time — what lands in your bank account on a single unit. Adjust your price, product cost, and creator payout until the green number sits where you need it to be.

How the math works

The formula, in four lines.

Platform base fee
price × category rate
Applied on every sale based on your product’s region and category.
Payment processing
price × 1.02%
The hidden one most sellers forget. Automatic on every order.
Affiliate payout
price × commission %
Applied to the full selling price, not the net — stacks on top of fees.
Net profit
price − cogs − shipping − all fees
What actually hits your bank account on a completed sale.
FAQ

Questions creators ask before their first sale.

TikTok Shop charges a 1.02% payment processing fee on every sale, on top of the base category commission. It isn’t listed on the main seller pricing page, which is why most sellers forget to model it — and why the calculator above always includes it by default.
In the US, TikTok Shop takes a 6% base commission on most standard categories and 5% on electronics, plus the 1.02% payment processing fee. If you run an affiliate campaign, the creator payout comes off the top of that, typically between 8% and 20%.
Healthy affiliate commissions typically sit between 8% and 20%. Below 8%, strong creators may pass. Above 20%, make sure your margin can actually support it. Use the slider above to find a commission that still clears a comfortable net profit.
Yes — and it happens more often than people think. Between the base commission, the hidden 1.02% processing fee, affiliate commission, product cost and shipping, a low-priced unit can easily net less than zero. The calculator flashes a red warning and shows the minimum selling price required to break even whenever net profit drops below $0.
In the UK and EU, TikTok Shop charges a 9% base commission on standard categories and 7% on electronics, plus the same 1.02% processing fee. Select “EU / UK Standard” or “EU Electronics” in the calculator above to model these rates.
Not yet. The numbers above model a single completed sale. Returns, refund fees, promo discounts, and shipping subsidies eat into your real margin on top of everything shown here — so always leave headroom between your calculated net profit and your target profit per unit.
